These Chinese Tagimas are a good value. The Predator, a five with pretty mild fanned frets is $709, the Relic is about $700, and the fretless is $400ish. These basses seem to be good alternatives to Sire or nicer Squiers.
I really liked the Predator, but I go fanned, I go 37” like Dingwall or Spector. The frets on this bass are parallel from the 5-9th frets and are fanned on the low and high end. I think the effect is pretty mild and this bass could have had parallel frets on a 35 1/2” scale. That said, B string is possibly the best I have heard on a sub $1K bass and I was impressed with the electronics.
The relic Jazz is nice, nowhere nearly as nice as my Brazilian Tagima, but I heard there is no more Brazilian production, and that is a shame.
The fretless is nice, the fingerboard is far better than the last Squier I played and I don’t know about Sire.
