Oh I'm definitely not throwing in that towel - I'll still be playing bass as long as my hands work. In fact I have a nice overlapping gig lined up and my drummer friend is playing too. The difference is I won't be pursuing/accepting any gigs that require a full-time schedule or extensive touring.
I'm doing a little DC>NYC>Boston run in a few weeks, which will be a lot of fun, especially since I won't be depending on my meager show pay to pay rent. I think you guys who stuck with solid careers and play to have fun have it figured out!
