Anyone a fan of this album? Kevin was a brilliant singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist who died way too young. I think there were a few posthumous releases after Thud, but this was his masterpiece IMO.

Awesome pop/rock/prog songs with great lyrics and fabulous production. Also fantastic bass playing and tone. I think Kevin did most of it but I think there were a few session bassists too.

I liked everything Kevin did. First heard him with Toy Matinee and went from there. Aside from being a brilliant player/arranger/producer he was a prolific lyricist, albeit a bit dark.
We don't get too many guys like him, Jeff Buckley comes to mind, and it sure sucks when they go so quick.

I couldn't get into Toy Matinee, really talented band, but something about it is too slick/80s for my taste. Kevin's solo stuff is a lot darker, which appeals to me.

I agree guys like him and Jeff Buckley were unique songwriters with really eclectic influences that made them stand out from the pack. I'd also put Chris Whitley in the category of "Awesome Eclectic Singer/Songwriters Who Died Way Too Early"
