Thunderbird Club

If I could have the choice of any car, this would be it: 1962 Pontiac Catalina Super Duty 421 405 HP (really a lot more), they were built for racing, aluminum chassis parts, swiss cheese frame, positraction, 4 speed etc. I saw one at a car show once, the thing was thunderous when they started it up.

Yeah, fairly short run on the model and never very popular…

I think it was the Buick version of the more popular Chevy Monza.

They made an Oldsmobile model of that car too, one of my girlfriend's older sisters had one with a stock 305, I never drove it, she didn't keep it very long but later 70's motors had very low HP.

There's a 1964 single pickup with Entwistle's autograph, beautiful but they want $10,500 no cracks or breaks. There's a fretless '77 (must be one of @WillyW 's old ones )

The signed one was here in Seattle at Mike and Mike's guitar bar.

I love my cars like I like my women, boxy and angular…

I’d love a 390 and a 4 speed, but I’m fortunate to get about 14mpg with the 289…. Maybe I’d get 4mpg with the 390, plus tires every week…

Dodge Polara would make me stray from the 7ord fold rather quicky too…

I generally like them as well. But this think is just ugly. Ugly color, ugly styling.

My bio dad had one of these bad boys. I'd love to buy one.

Not a Buick, but related.....had one of these in the 90s for a while - 1976 Oldsmobile 98 Regency, last year for the 455 Rocket. Beast of an engine :nailbiting:

Huge
car, one of the biggest I've ever owned, might have been bigger than my current Suburban :wideyed:

(edit - it was:

1995 Chev Suburban:
Length 220.0 in.
width w/out mirrors 76.7 in.
Wheelbase 131.5 in.

1976 Olds 98 Regency:
232.2 in. long
80 in. wide
Wheelbase 127 in.

:bookworm: )

To be honest they're not all that. We just tell ourselves that because it makes us feel special since we have them. Look at the data: Most have had their headstock broken off in anger because they sounded so bad. That alone ought to tell you something. Take it from me, don't waste your money and just this one of these with an almost Thunderbird pickup.

My in-laws had one of those 98s and a '76 before that. Real cars.
