Bon is on top of an old fashioned speaker box, complete with cigarette sponsorship! The speaker box is on top of another box - possibly made from an old tea chest that was in the First Fleet!

Philip Morris (originally a London company), had a large plant here that made Marlboro and Virginia Slims and a few others at times. Closed down production here as manufacturing companies were taxed to death (by the short-sighted city, mostly), and moved to more business friendly areas like a number of other manufactures. Often offices remained a number of years after production facilities were closed.
GE's largest plant in the US and two Ford plans are in the city. Both were likely too big to move. But now UPS (World Hub) is the largest employer. And they have threatened to leave once if the city didn't get it's act together for snow removal. Which they promptly did.

Oh yeah...
No Thuunderbird at rehearsal last night, but the old '58 with La Bella DTFs sounds pretty sweet. Sounded great with either head. It's always been a great match with the Ampeg tube head, but I think I've got the ABM figured out how to get pretty close to the Ampeg flavor when needed. Some basses sound better with one but not the other, but that number is shrinking as I get better at EQing the ABM. Man, those are great head.

The bass is also already in Canada...
But it was his Dad's bass. It would be cool if the guy found a luthier to take it on.
It would be an expensive restoration. Might be worth it for sentimental reasons.

A most valiant and reasonable attempt at avoidance! :smug:
All very true and I completely agree. Sadly those situations often seem to not get finished, especially if (the son in this case), just isn't seriously into playing. Something like that takes a lot of desire, perseverance and/or money. It would be nice if he does restore it. Certainly the ideal situation.
