Thunderbird Club

A simple customization, but you have to start somewhere, right?

Should I replace the stock one with this or is the grain pattern too dark?

By the way, I wouldn't mind joining the club.

I dig the way it look dead stock. (and I'm prone to customizing!) I played one in my local GC and liked it a lot. (good quality/details)

Yeah, I have to think that truss rod cover wouldn't fit, anyway...it's actually for a Firebird. Bad enough my bass won't fit in the Musicians Gear case in the pic...even though a Goth T-bird fit inside the case in the store.
Well, at least it was an easy return.

Question regarding finish: There's something sticky on the neck around the third or fourth fret that I can't figure out how to get off. I've tried a little Goof Off, a bit of naphtha, even tried buffing it off with a white Scotch Brite pad and again with 0000 steel wool. Still there. Is there anything about the finish on the neck that's known to be a problem with TBirds? This one's a Goth with a painted neck; I'm wondering if its a go-through of the clear coat.

I got some little problems sorted out, restrung it with the new Supertone bridge and Dean Markley Blue Steel Nickels, and just fell in love with the tonal range all over again.

One of those problems was that there weren't (aren't from the factory?) pick up springs on the neck pup. There are two closed cell foam pads, but I guess from the previous owner playing off that pup, it was sitting at an angle. I bought pup springs, installed 'em and leveled it out, and it sounds better. Got a few more details to attend to (figuring out what I'm gonna do with pickguard and TRC; I want 'em shiny to match the bridge now) but...yeah, I'm a TBird guy from here on out. Don't know what took me so long.

I've had those on a couple of my newer Thunderbirds
for several years now - (Hipshot didn't make the smaller ones for 'Birds that they do now) Since the chance for all four of the keys to line up is remote, I don't lose any sleep over it.

Wow, that white pearl pickguard from a few posts ago..

I might have to steal that pickguard! Seriously..How would a person go about finding a white pearl 'guard?

-Or did you order it from someplace like WD Music and attach the thunderbird logo yourself?

It is WD and I put two logos on. Gold over black. Larry on this forum has them.
