I'm considering getting a Thunderbird, but I'm not 100% sure since I also plays alot of jazz. What genres is the Thunderbird great for?

Music. I use/used mine in big band, jazz combos(3-5), classic rock, and concert band. Adjusting EQ's-on bass and amp*-will give you whatever tone is appropriate.I'm considering getting a Thunderbird, but I'm not 100% sure since I also plays alot of jazz. What genres is the Thunderbird great for?

There are a couple of members here that use various brands of Flats with their Birds, with very good results. The bigger question is likely which Thunderbird, as there are many and by no means do they all sound alike.
You are clearly one of us then.Proud to be #862
Amazing collection of Thunderbirds in here.... which is dangerous, because all of a sudden I feel the urge to buy a new bass

I'd recommend more fiber.I play whatever is on the stand at the time, for whatever genre.... and I got some weird poopie.....
An ACC stack has a big effect on the sound, but listening to them side by side does highlight the subtle difference the body makes. I have a 2015 'Bird and a 2013 EB. They have the same DeCola pickups, Babicz bridge, and wiring, but the 'Bird is mahogany, of course, and the EB is ash with a maple set neck. The EB is brighter, all things being equal. I doubt that an audience would ever register the difference, even if it was less subtle, but we all hear things like that.Did a short side-by-side comparison with the Vintage Pro and the Telebird. Bolt on maple neck and alder body vs. mahogany neck-through*. The pickups are approx. in the same locations and all the recording settings were the same for both (used an Acoustic 301 cab IR). Both have the same kind of D'addario EXL170 strings about the same age.
*of course there are other factors that contribute but let's not get too technical...

Before I bought my Thunderbird, this is my concern too. As I'm playing on a lofi rap band, but I'm surprised she can do almost any genreI'm considering getting a Thunderbird, but I'm not 100% sure since I also plays alot of jazz. What genres is the Thunderbird great for?
Exactly. They are like children. They may be related and similar, but they are different. Are you going to pick a favorite? Nope!WHAT!!?
And I agree with you, they have a very similar sound indeed. Of course I like to think there's enough difference to justify the ownership of both...
They are in Seattle next month. Hmmmm.... Except that I won't be in Seattle on the 26th.The Warning are scheduled to play there on 2/4 for their 2022 tour.....I just happened to remember seeing it on their tour poster....

Save yourself 1+ hours; stop in Hamilton. Hamilton has a thriving music scene.I'll have to touch base with you later on when we're starting to look at possibilities for shows in Michigan. We're in the visa process now.
Either way, I've heard Flint has a roaring scene.
We'd be driving 4hrs to play in Toronto, so Michigan isn't really a drive to us lol.
Funkar för allt. Works for everything. I use mine for rock, blues, soul, pop…I'm considering getting a Thunderbird, but I'm not 100% sure since I also plays alot of jazz. What genres is the Thunderbird great for?
Hey, let's not get too crazy here. There are many things a Thunderbird can't do.THE answer.
The real question is, "What can't a Thunderbird do?" That one has yet to answered.
Yeah, and he would probably order some wings (being a Buffalonian) and pick up the tab. Terrible!Same here, he seems like he would be cool to hang out with.
