Just got mine in and in pretty excited about it. Couple of questions though. It will mostly be in drop b. of course I think il need some slightly thicker strings. 105s do fine on my ric, assume it will be fine for the bird. Now the bridge doesn't look like it can handle much more string thickness, any experience? Also the but. Could I just file it in with the string? And finally. The necks got some relief. With thicker strings tuned down would I still need to do anything with the truss and action. As far as fret buzzing or making relief worse. I know I can change it to personal preference. And I'd rather get answers and try it for myself rather than taking to someone to set up. Sorry for the myriad of questions. Googled a few things and ended up back here once or twice and wasn't really answers I was looking for. Before anyone yells at me for searching lol.
Been working fine for a year. I can link you to our reverbnation. and let you hear it Edit: why would that be something I'd make up when I'm looking for honest answers? Thanks for your contribution.
Well, I have basses with 105's that sound like crap in drop D. And, I have basses that sound really good in drop D with 105's that would never sound good in drop B. I agree with Charlie Monroe...
Lol well. It's freak accidental workings with my ric are irrelevant. I do think il need to do thicker on the thunderbird though. Everything points to that. It's a brass but if I'm not mistaken? Could be. Does that file down or is it easier to just buy a new one and have it set in. Also like I said, the bridge doesn't seem to be able to hold much thicker of a string.
just get a 5 string set get rid of the 4th string and use the 5th string for your fourth string cuz its already made to be tuned to b
Edit. Unneeded post. Yeah that's what I was thinking. Was just wondering about the nut thing. Never had to deal with that issue before.
