TI Flats for G&L L-1505?

I have TI Jazz Flats on two other basses (G&L LB-100 and fretless L-2000) and love them. Considering putting them on a G&L L-1505, but not sure the effect on such an aggressive bass (and 5 strings, no less).

Anyone else done that? How was it?

I have an L-1505 and know exactly what you mean. I put on intentionally dark strings to even out the rasp and harshness of that bass. For me, I use a set of pure nickel roundwound strings. It keeps the highs at bay as well as lets me keep that roundwound zing. I also eq the amp much more drastically than with my other basses.

It's a combination approach, for sure.

Quick follow-up: the strings that come on the L-1505 from G&L are Super Long scale D'Addarios (EXL 170) - the L1505 doesn't seem like a super song scale bass to me – seems like a regular long scale (34"). Will long scale strings work, or do I need super long scale?

Most "long scale" strings are 37"-37.25" in winding length (ball end to taper/silk), some are even longer, so you should be fine with "long scale".

If you want to make sure, just check to see where the taper starts at the tuner end on those "extra long" D'A's and see if they can be another 0.75" shorter.

Long scale is fine; I top-load my L1505 with them and it works great. The extra length is nice if you want to string thru-body.
