TI Jazz Rounds are dangerous. Heed my warning.

I've placed an order for 3 sets of Jazz Flats and one set of Jazz Rounds JR345 to try out, I hope I like them as much as I like their flats. I am thinking that if I find the 34 inch set too light (but I will try them as they are intended to be first) I will just try the 36 inch set, which are very close to what I usually use for rounds anyways

Last year I actually asked them to consider making the 36 inch gauges for 34 inch basses, with some other suggestions.

Things were fine until I installed my first set of jazz rounds. At first, it was an issue of adjusting my setup, and lightening my touch.

All was fine. Until it finally happened.

Left hand - ruined. Right hand - ruined.

Other strings, such at D’Addario, Ernie Balls, and even Optima round wounds suddenly felt abrasive and stiff under my right hand. Under my left hand, they felt draggy - as if I was running sandpaper across wood, or had fingertips made of Velcro.

My hands are now ruined...for other strings. Even the TI Super Alloys, a very nice string, seems brutish in comparison.

At this point, the only solution is to eventually migrate all my basses with round wounds to TI Jazz Rounds.

Too late, I'm already a hard core addict. Do you know what is costs to replace 15 basses with TIs?
I had to take out another mortgage.

I finally put them on my D Lakin j bass a few weeks ago. I may take them off soon but I feel I should maybe give them a little more time. They sound good on headphones, but the one time I played with the band I wasn’t liking them. Maybe it’s because I’m plucking them too hard. Maybe they’re not broken in yet. Maybe it’s because I’m in love with a Geezer equipped D Lakin P with Labella 360 fls. So far my favorite strings on the j are GHS balanced nickels. Maybe I’ll put the TI flats back on the J. I found the flats not bright enough and the TI rounds too zingy. Found myself plucking near the neck to get what I wanted. Maybe I’ll try Putting Fralins in it. Maybe that’s a rabbit hole I don’t want to go into. Maybe I’ll sell the j and buy another p. Maybe I’ll shut up and play.

What was it about the tone you didn't like? Lol! Maybe just turn around and boost your midrange control?

If I remember correctly, going from TI JRs to RC Boomers, the boomers will feel like suspension cables.
I also don't think a boomer string form 15 years ago plays the same as one from 5 years ago. They have become a bit more refined, perhaps?

Still not in the same feel league as TIJRs.

The joke is playing off the belief that there are people out there who get Austria and Australia confused.

I've never encountered such a person, so I really can't say anyone like that actually exists - and I'm excluding situations where people simply misunderstand the words coming out of someone's mouth. In Austria, they do seem to harbor a belief that it happens, but it's hard to say whether any Austrian's experience of this can be attributed to people being ignorant of Austria or if it's just people misunderstanding what is being said.

Now, this is an accepted enough joke that there is merchandise playing off of it:

What makes the joke even better is that there occasional issues regarding Kangaroos in Austria:

Mystery kangaroo in Austria still on the loose

Escaped kangaroo on the run in Austria

- Confusing Anne Frank and Helen Keller: this was done in the movie Clerks II
- Confusing the Germans and Japanese when it comes to who bombed Pearl Harbor: see Animal House

Oh, so painful - Jay Leno used to do similar stuff.

I had successfully blocked out any memories of people willing to go on camera and display those sorts of levels of ignorance until I saw that.

For what it's worth, haven't been to Australia, but I've definitely spent time in Austria. Lovely place, and I think the only thing that would stop me from moving there at the first opportunity is the suspicion that there are parts of Italy that I would enjoy just as much.
