I recently played this as a birthday present for a horn player's dad. It was a great experience, especially on only 1.5 hours of rehearsal.
It's a good piece if you are looking for a challenging piece of "real" chamber music for a recital. It sounds a bit like a Tom and Jerry cartoon soundtrack.
The bass part is 95% the same as the orchestral version so it's a great way to learn it with no celli or other low instruments to hide behind. The clarinet has the most work to do.
