Tilted Cabinet?

I had never heard of the Markstand until I saw your post. I found some info on it and it looks like a great idea. Do you have one? How well does it work? In the pics I found, it doesn't look sturdy enough to hold up a heavy cab.
I don't have one, but only because all my rigs are multiple cab arrangements that are high enough to make tilting unnecessary. If I ever switched to a single cab, I'd tilt it and I'd definitely buy one of these.

They are VERY sturdy. They've got a plywood core, the stitching is very heavy duty, and that velcro sticks like crazy, especially to carpet covered cabs.
 
I won't pretend to know the physics of speaker design but have found that my TL606 mounted on a stand approx 3' off the floor does not sound as full and has less bass response than when sitting on the floor.
Tilting it with a 2x4 does not change the sound and makes it easier to hear.

It has the same bass response, ie., the 40-80Hz octave. But at 3 feet off the floor it will have less midbass, around 90-110 Hz, due to the loss of boundary coupling. You can use that to good effect in boomy rooms, as boom tends to be located at or near those frequencies, while typical bass cabs tend to accentuate those frequencies as well, making for double-whammy boom.

At what height is boundary coupling minimized?
1/4 wavelength. A wavelength is 1130 (feet per second, the approximate speed of sound at average altitude and humidity) divided by frequency. So 100 Hz has a wavelength of 11.3 feet, 1/4 wavelength of 2.8 feet. The same applies to the distance from a wall in back of the cab, so problem rooms can be fixed with the right cab placement, and made worse with the wrong placement.
