Time to buy a new bass

I'm in the business to find a bass that will suit my taste better than what I have right now.
( two Carvin 6 strings bass , a 4 strings fretless Carvin ) I was playing a lot of jazz so they were quite useful but now I don't play that much anymore and find out that I really just need 4 strings. So I sold both 6 strings.

So I was looking at :
EBMM : stringray 4H
EBMM : Bongo 4H
Fender : Jazz bass deluxe
Carvin : LB70 aniversary model
Warwick : Thumb 4

like I said I play jazz ( real book ), some metal, primus stuff and RHCP.

I didn't put other choice since I'm a lefty.

I voted bongo. Why? I've read too many good things about the sound & playability... I've owned the fender & the MM and while they are nice, they aren't particularly interesting... the bongo IS no doubt interesting.

I voted stingray. I'm very finicky with my tone and never really satisfied, but plugging in my 'Ray always makes me smile.

as a lefty and EBMM ray5 owner for over 10 years I couldnt be happier with my choice. I think its the best choice in high end basses for a lefty (no extra charges

I voted for the Ray, but both the Ray and Bongo will change your life in terms of bass tone.

How can you go wrong with a Stingray, I would find a used one as well. One with a Flea bridge.

I vote for the Fender Jazz. Such a versatile instrument. Like you, i play mine from anything ranging from old school death/black metal to Red hot chili peppers.

In all honesty, each bass you listed is quite good, cant go wrong. Go have some fun trying em all out and buy which one you find hardest to put down.

i voted jazz

but id go for a passive one rather than the deluxe......i dont know why but i find it easier to get an aggressive or mellow tone depending on what im playing.

the deluxe is a seriously nice bass though!

The jazz, its my favorite out of the group, Fender makes some nice basses.

I own a Warwick first off, though not a Thumb. And while they sound very different, they are all very well built(basically like tanks), will last a long while, have a unique look and shape, and are very versitile. I've played the Thumb and its a fantastic bass for what type of music you listed, but like the other users say, perferably with a bolt-on neck. My neck is made from ovangkol and it sounds better than a wenge one IMO so I dont put much stress on having it made from wenge. GET A WARWICK

Fender Deluxe Jazz Bass, I own 2 and they are great basses. I am a Jazz player and they work great for anything.

I voted for the Warwick. The Fender Jazz is another good choice. I've never played a bongo, but they are freaking ugly, and personally, I was really disappointed with the Stingray. I love the look of them, and wanted to try one for years, but when I finally played one, I hated it.
