Tippi-Toes

Once again I have run into an issue where I have got most of a song down by ear but can tell it's just a little "off" and can't find a solution. In this case it's Tippi-Toes (the Meters version, not Primus). Here's how I figured it up:

G
D---0---------------0
A--0-0-23-023-02--0
E

But the last two chords don't sound right. It sounds like the difference should be more pronounced. The only tab I can find has it in the key of D but it sounds way too tinny and bland to be the real deal. I personally think it sounds right in A. Well, all for those last two, anyway.

Can anyone lend me a hand? I'd like to put a good accurate tab of this song up for others to learn since it's an awesome song. Thanks guys and gals :)
