Tips for band mentoring

Hey at my school many more 'experienced' musicians have been asked to help out the younger bands. I thought why not? I've played in a few bands before only one with a mentor...

What I need help with are there any crucial things to look out for while mentoring? The bands I'm helping out with are first time players. Another pointers to what I should be looking for would be greatly appreciated.

One thing to look out for:

If you're not experienced enough, don't do it.

Things to keep in mind:
Don't come in as an expert, only as someone with more experience
Share your experience but do not impose
Focus on FUN factor
What makes a band
Individual vs band needs
Costs (gear, rehearsal space/time)
Schedules
Capabilities and respect thereof
Listening vs hearing
The rhythm section setting a foundation and being a band within the band

Don't control rehearsals to the point that you are killing creativity. (i.e. sometimes you have to suffer through an impromptu jam session without letting it become an every 10-minute occurance)
