If your whole section can just lay it down, then do it the best possible way. Totally get that. If I was playing on my own in a chamber orchestra, I'd do it right and put the work in to do it. If you're in a section full of amateurs of varying standards who want to enjoy making music, and look to you for a lead, you may want to pick the "easy" way and emphasise the down beats, just so they can get the job done without endless hours of practice which may or may not pay off, and may well put them off so badly that they never come back
