My bass has a little separation on the neck joint. The back of the neck has two separate pieces of wood and the wood is showing some absence of adhesion. Is this something I need to repair soon or mostly a cosmetic aspect?

So, you have a two-piece neck? With the glue joint running along the length of the neck? Is your bass a Christopher or Eastman by chance?
