i was wondering how much getting an 8x10 tolexed would run. i hate the carpet covering but can only find where to buy the tolex but no one to put it on for me. i think i would mess it up big time if i were to try it

I said this in another thread also, but put some spray on truck bed liner on that mother! That'll protect it.
I recovered an SVT 8x10 and wasn't even tolex trained.
It turned out well. One thing I did was closely examine one at a store to see how they cut/seamed it. Really good contact cement is super important.

OK, you got me interested, What type of spray on liner do you recommend? I used marine vinyl on mine and its getting it butt beat. I want to upgrade.
I use Rhino on my cabs. Works and looks great.
I'd rather have carpet than tolex. Looks the same at a distance and its much more durable. I'd rather have truck bed liner on my cabs more.

Instead of truck bed liner paint, there is a specialized cabinet covering called Duratex. There's 3 different grades of it, and it can either be sprayed or rolled on. A little over $50 per gallon, try speakerhardware.com
+1 on the Line-X. We tried a few different bed liner sprays and found the Line-X really has a much better look than the others. The downside is cost. Something the size of a 810 could easily cost $200 or more to spray, but you get a finish that should stay nice looking for a long, long time.
The Dura-Tex is a good product, but not in the same league as the Line-X, IMO. On the plus side, it is much less expensive, can be applied yourself as the product is water based and it can be easily touched up.
hmm, i might stick with the carpet but i just hate the way some things stick to it like animal hair or something like that.
Hey, since we're on the subject of bedliner, has anyone tried this stuff out or cna tell me what you think about it? I'm looking for a white bedliner covering if I ever build my own cab.
