Big TH and Aerosmith fan here. As one of the "hits" Walk This Way is very cool. But...front to back....Rocks is it for me. Not a bad tune and great lines throughout the album. For the newer stuff I like Nine Lives.

Tom Hamilton: Give him the recognition he deserves

I've always liked his playing and his basslines. Very imaginative and always support the song.
Some faves: Addam's Apple, Back in the Saddle, Walk This Way. Permanent Vacation.
I like the band and think all the players are strong. Perry/Whitford are one of the greatest tandems around!

Ah, yes...the faux B-15 rig. I remember when BP did their more recent cover article on TH, people were upset that he had his rig made up to look like old B-15s. Of course, there were also more than a few letters about the pic of him with his cigarettes on the table backstage. Personally, I liked the rig...made the rig he was really using more acceptable to the purists for the cd they were touring behind at the time.

looks count.i had the insane, insanely awesome chance to meet him. he was so kind, and introduced us to his daughter, and let me have a go on his sadowski jazz copy (i'm aware i sound like a delusional rambler, but this is all true).
he's been my favourite bassist since i knew what a bass was! you cannot fault his ability.

If it weren't for Tom, I'd be playing drums right now. I was about to give up bass for drums but then I discovered Aerosmith and his basslines and decided to keep Playing bass

Tom is much better than people give him credit for.

Yeah, I love Tom H. I've been an Aerosmith fan for years and I love the fact that he is an "in the background" kind of player. Not flashy but definitely very tasty to listen to (of course I'm always listening to the bass lines). The more I listen to him, the more I appreciate his skills. Eat the rich 
I had to learn "Toys In The Attic" for a one-off gig a few years ago and man that bass line kicked my ass.

He plays exactly what the song needs to be great, and that is the highest form of musicianship IMO.
I don't get why you all think he's underrated. Those that actually concern themselves with bassplaying generally rate him pretty high, I think. Perhaps he isn't a huge bass icon to many people, but that doesn't really make him underrated, it's just because he doesn't add a lot of new techniques or styles. Subtlety doesn't make an icon, in Toms case it just makes a master.

From what I have heard Tom is also a good guy too. He does community theater and quite a bit of charity work.
