Tone Hammer neutral sounding to my ears

I recently picked up a Tone Hammer thinking of using it to "turn my passive bass active" and to add the Aguilar sound to my playing.

After playing for a couple hours, engaging and disengaging the pedal, I'm not hearing a great difference in sound.

I play a parts jazz bass, and use a GK MB112ii.

Are my settings off?

Bass 2 o'clock
Treble 1 o'clock
Mid Freq 2 o'clock
Mid level 11 o'clock

Gain noon
Master Volume 10 o'clock

I'm just starting to try a few effects to shape my tone. I have a spectracomp but haven't used it yet with the ToneHammer.

My guess is that you subconsciously eq'd the pedal to sound like your bass.

You can already create that tone. Use the pedal to create a different one.

On my Tone Hammer head I usually find that the gain and drive are most useful in sculpting my tone. I tend to like the mid-frequency around one o'clock, the mid level around 10:30 or 11 o'clock. Then I use the Treble and bass sparingly to adjust for the room. I know you're using the pedal, but check out this video for some ideas:

I just sold my beloved vt bass deluxe in favour of a tone hammer. Didnt quite have enough money for a b7k or vintage deluxe, but to be completely honest i think i would of still chose the TH anyway. It looks to be exactly what i want. I will join you in exploring what this beast can do. Hurry up monday!
