How do you decide what to set the tone and volume levels on the fender jazz bass. I've been playing for a long time and can dial in a good solid tone for everything we play, but I was wondering if anyone changes there tone controls alot on stage between song. Also if you do change setting inbetween songs, for what reasons? Just tone touch up, or what sound changes are you looking for on different songs? If that makes any sense.

Tone Volume Question

I play in a cover band, so I change settings on my bass fairly regularly. We play a wide variety of styles, so I try to make my tone sound as close to the original as possible. For example, we can do a Motown tune, into a tune by the Killers, into a Bob Marley song, into a Blink 182 (yuck 
) song, etc...
Sure, I could just dial in a nice, solid tone on my bass (I frequently gig with my Squier VM Jazz) and leave it alone for the entire three sets. But like I said, I try to make it sound as close to the recorded version as possible (including switching from fingerstyle to a pick as need be) - I'm playing the parts pretty much note-for-note, so why not go all the way, right?
