In all of the 5-6 years ive only ever used ashdown amps. started out with a mini stack and then after a couple of years moved up to the mag600 with mag 210 and 115 cabs. ive never really been confident with my tone. i sometimes manage to dial in a tone that i think sounds great at the time, but never seem to be able to replicate it other times. i dont know wether its just me being too picky or my amp / lack of parameters and effects. i play primarily with a washburn force 4 (also got a build thread in luthiers corner). a guy ive gigged with before used pretty much the same rig as me but the mag 300 and he used (i think) a boss me50b and it sounded really good and seemed to cut through the mix much better than me even though i (theoretically) had twice the power.
would i be able to use a higher end effects processor, like the boss, directly into a power amp? i'd love that much tweakability at my feet.
i play pretty much all classic rock in my band but i also like to doodle around with stoner rock/ grunge and a bit of heavy metal and sludge so i want alot of flexibility.
what would you guys recommend?
