Double Bass Too Much Rosin Choking Sound

I know that putting too much weight on the string will choke the string and sound but I am wondering, if too much rosin is used, would it make it easier to choke the sound?

Do it and find out.

Excess rosin on the hair can be played off fairly quickly, when you keep wiping the strings clean every few minutes.

A new toothbrush will also do the the trick.

The more rosin, the less heavy you need to play as I understand it. Too much and the bow will dig in rather than flow nicely. I tend to have too little myself. I think I have had too much rosin about once. Problem lasted about 10 minutes ( if that long) before resolving itself.

The more rosin you use, the more you hear the rosin instead of the bass. Big difference.
