Double Bass Top repair and long term problems

It is hard to tell from your small picture but is your bass guitar-shaped (no violin or viol corners to help you carry with)? In another current thread in the Luthiers forum someone talks of a guitar bass needing a piece of wood glued across the rib to give your hand a grip when carrying?

Yes, it Is simmilar to Seth Kimmel's big foot doublebass (made by italiano luthier) and It is a bit uncomfortable to take a round. I'll look for the post you mention and check out the solution. Thanks a lot

Just heared from luthier... Fortunatly the invoice was sent by e mail so no phone panic...
2,5 grant ... Wich in Italy means two months sallary ...
So I'll be hearing from insurance Company in these days hoping they take over at least a part of the costs...
And no news about the time needed...

Yeah... It Is very beautiful
However at least One Hood news, today I heared from insurance company and they will cover almost entire invoice, leaving 100€ out - wich Is really great.
On the other side the luthier said It Will take about 3 months for the repair (and knowing him - probably September.... ) But at least the baby will come home sooner or later
