Torn: rounds or flats

With only one bass I would personally stick with rounds, nickels in my case.

An option could be the La Bella white tapewounds that are relatively bright for tapewounds/flatwounds. They are a bit special though, very slick to the touch, so they are maybe not for everyone.
Agree with this.

If I only had one bass and slapped at all, it would have to be rounds for me.

Regarding LaBella tapes, they apparently do sound close to rounds. Of course they feel totally different.

I have ordered white copper tapes for 2 of my 5ers (a fretted and a fretless) and white tapes for my fretted Precision. Haven't got them delivered yet, but I will report back if they might be a good alternative tonally.
