I think a lot of the printed ones look ok in pictures. But my experience was that in person, what looked good in a photo looked "lifeless" in my hands.

Exactly, it's a nice swirly pattern, but it's completely one-dimensional.

Here's my other JB, it's my Geddy. It's not exactly tort, but it's completely 3D and shifts and shimmers as you move it around. Spitfire Emerald Tort. Very rare out in the wild. I'm not a shill for the company. It's way expensive and takes months to get it made. But it is not printed vinyl, so there's that. If it spontaneously combusted, I would somehow live with it.

Thanks for this warning about printed vinyl.

If I wanted a print, there are lots of other images possible.

But my thing is no pickguard, even if routing is exposed.
