Touch of dirt?

Hey Justin. Thanks for being this accessible. I think it's awesome that you take the time to be on this forum and from what I can see, address any question presented to you. Mine being: In live situations, do you tend to run your bass signal with a little dirt or would it be more of a clean sound? It's a little hard to tell in most of the video I've seen of you.

Aww, you're so welcome! It's really such a pleasure for me.

My bass always has some kind of dirt on it. It's never strictly clean. The harmonic complexity of a bit of overdrive of some magnitude always helps give it presence in a mix, even if you don't "hear" it per se. Only when isolated would you go, "oh - I get it".
