So, my band is covering Toxic by Britney Spears.
There are a few spots in the song with what is probably a synthesizer with a fuzzy tone.
Playing around in my Axe Fx, I can get pretty close with a Big Muff model.
Any other suggestions?
I'm going to need something for my live board to duplicate it (my live board is just a Pete Cornish Line Driver, Boss TU-3W, and Analogman Juicer... no distortions).

I actually really like that song lol. It's an example of pop music production including a range of sounds and getting them to blend together so well it feels natural. And the chorus vocal melody is Dorian mode writing par excellence.

I don't have much for specific pedals, but I'm hearing some octave action in there, and some create that sound better than others. That and filtering the low frequencies down, I think, so that it's low without being bassy or boomy.

I mean, if you want to throw money at something that could handle a ton of other future songs too, the Source Audio C4 can nail that filtered octave fuzz sound....

The band seems to like the Big Muff for this sound. We're gonna keep trying the Muff. It's a bubble font.

Use the Muff!! I'm personally not a "cover purist" (I'm literally playing flute thru a harmonizer pedal on my main group's rendition of Kyoto by Phoebe Bridgers), so if a certain solution sounds good and the gang like it, then it's the right one for your purposes.

If you're itching to burn money on something, the Wren & Cuff Tall Font Russian is a specific and beloved flavor of Muff-style fuzz.... and I'm a personal fan of their Pickle Pie B as it retains mids more than most fuzzes, and also doesn't have to boost lows, which can be harder to avoid on some Muff-style pedals.
