Trace Elliot 1153

never heard of this cabinet, although trace use a numbering system to describe their cabinet. I am probably wrong but wouldn't a 1153 be a cabinet with 5 11inch drivers and 3Ohm? maybe they didn't use that system for this cab.

Sorry just realized i was no help at all, but I do use a Trace 1518T and tested a GBE-600 with it. Such a clean amp sounds great through the slightly coloured TE cabs.

It's a 115 cabinet. Essentially a portable version of the 1518.

Used to have one. Very portable, very punchy for a 15. Sounded excellent at low to medium volumes but couldn't handle the high volume situations I needed it for, especially if I tried to boost the low end a little. It would fart out quite badly. I actually put a big rip in the original speaker and replaced it with a 250w Celestion which improved things slightly, but I still decided to get rid of it.

All that said, it's a very nice little cab. I used to use it with a 2x10, but reckon 2 1153s together would sound fantastic.

How much would you be paying for it?

About $200 shipped from a TBer. I was thinking about pairing it with a Genz Benz 210T-XB.

Seems like a fair price. Got mine for about £170 about 18 months ago in mint condition, beat the sh*t out of it on tour and sold it for £125 a few weeks ago.

Well now that you guys brought up the 1518, what are the pros/cons of the 1518 vs the 1153?

As already stated, it gets louder and deeper, but weighs quite a bit more.

My 1153 does pretty well for me. Nice lows, and I sometimes the sound is a little loose at high volumes, but it's a 15 so I don't hold that against the cab. If I was willing to tote a 4x10 I'd get one, but this is a super portable and capable cab. Paid $175 two years ago, gigged it 100+ times since then.

Deeper as in sounding deeper and literally going to deeper frequencies. Both of them.

The larger cabinet with larger ports means more air moving around with less distortion. It also means that it's a good chunk heavier and more awkward to move around.
