Trace Elliot Commando 15" 100w? Worth a look?

There is an acronym known as TANSTAAFL. There Ain't No Such Thing As A Free Lunch. This translates to bass amps kinda like this… If you want loud, you have to buy loud. A single speaker combo amp can come in a LOT of configurations. If your amp is pushing 2-3 hundred watts through a very strong speaker, you can have a pretty loud combo. It will most likely be heavy. Even with ND magnets. The transformers needed to support "loud" are not light even if the speaker is a little lighter due to high tech magnets. If you have a 100 watt max single 12 or 15 that is fairly light, it is NOT going to be a thunder box… It is probably a good amp in it's design parameters, and I get to see that first hand in a couple days when my bassist brings his for the first time. If I need him to be loud, I will DI him and run him through the PA. Sound reenforcement 101… His amp will be close to him and the drummer so they can hook up but it will NOT be loud enough to fill a fairly large room on it's own. You have to understand it's limitations and work with them… TANSTAAFL…

I use a spare one at our practice room and I hate it, muddy, no treble, muffled bass boom, and no, it isn't loud at all.
What bass and settings are you using ?
I can only speak from my experience but I've gigged and rehearsed with one of these for years and it's great for what it is. Plenty of volume and good enough for a live drummer. I agree it's not the most hi-fi of sounds, that's what you get with a passive tone stack, but using the mid shift and treble boost buttons you can get lots of punch and clarity.

Hi, I have tried everything, if you turn the bass down you lose volume and the mids and treble seem to have no effect until they're nearly full up, I honestly believe it Must have a fault, but I have also used a trace Elliott tramp guitar amp and that was awful, my hartke blows the trace out of the water!.
