Trace elliot Identification!!

so no information on the back where it should be... we pulled the speakers out and found


C10H100 16 ohms on the 2x10 cab speakers... it has a horn but i'm unsure of the models since its no longer made?
this would make it a 8 ohm cab.. but no power rating.


the speaker on the 1x15 cab reads.. C10H100 no ohms.. or power rating at all.. :crying:

I've gone as far as calling trace elliot who is now owned by peavey and got no help... the guy told me to call celestion... so I did.. once again ... put on hold and then got sent to a machine! I'm really just looking to find power ratings since I am thinking of buying this little stack to match up with my GK Mb500

anybody know anything about the cabs or sound? quality?

sounds good... just from looking at pics, i came up with a guess of

1153 for the 15" cab

and

2103H for the 2x10 cab...

but if I am wrong... please let me know... as the 1153 is only 200 watts at 8 ohms... not enough for what i'm doing.

if it is what your describing.. then im in business!

yes it is... but the guy has no idea what any of the specs are... I had to help him with pulling the speakers out.. and i didn't want to buy without exact knowledge of what i have... so I'm buying it so long as the specs are a match for my gk MB500

the last number in trace elliot nomenclature is the ohm rating on the cabinet...will always be an 8 or a 4...i run the same era 15 as my bottom cabinet with a 1048H...never have any issues with power..also remember that TE ratings are RMS...max wattage is usually double the RMS rating.

so where would i find that number? there is nothing on the back of the cab where it should be... kinda lost on this one.. so can anyone say for sure which cabs they are by looking at them?

is it the 1153 15" cab ... and 2103H 2x10 cab w/ horn?

there is a difference in power rating from the newer stuff by quite a bit right?

so nobody knows exactly what models these are?

I'm totally new to trace elliot... and even newer to the bass rig game... I am looking to make this my first rig if it matches well with my GK mb 500 that I just ordered.

If my Gk pushes 500watts @4ohms and this stack together is only rated at 400 watts (both 8ohm 200watt cabs) will that be too much? will i risk blowing speakers or hurtin the head?

They appear to be a 1028H and 1153, which I would rate at ~400w RMS for the stack. That is a great deal, and I second the "sound simply awesome" bit. (The 2x15 version of the 1153 is my main cab)

It's usually best to have more power on hand with a solid state amp than your cabs are rated for so that you can drive them all the way without the amp clipping and becoming unstable. This stack should be a good match for your incoming GK amp, and should be plenty loud for all but the biggest stages.

Get the cabs. $300 is a really great deal, and I doubt you'll have any problems pushing them with the GK. IME, Trace Elliot amps are conservatively rated, so if the cabs can handle 400 Trace Elliot watts, then they can handle a lot of power.

I think I am going to buy them.. I was looking for a gk cab... I was about to special order a gk neo 4x10 4 ohm cab and call it good forever... but I'm a guy that likes the deep end of a 15 cab. what is your take on a 4x10 neo cab that is 4 ohms as a stand alone rig matched up with the gk mb 500? Has anyone experienced this set up? or even an 8 ohm neo cab? The guy with the trace elliot hasn't had any offers yet so I really want to make the right choice on this buy. My mb500 gets here friday so I have all weekend to test out this set up on the trace elliot stack. I also have a fender bxr 300 watt 8 ohm cab that i have to test with my new head I've had it for a while but never owned a head..... so many options!

thoughts? opinions? suggestions? i'll take em'

I agree that they take more then they are rated for, at least the older ones from England do. The Trace 410 I'm using now is rated at 300 and I can push it hard a 400 watt tube amp and it has no problems.

I'll grab another 210 like the one I had if I ever see another

I recently sold two similar cabs:

Trace 2103H 2x10T
Trace 1153T 1x15

They were rated at 200 watts, 8 ohms each, hand written on the back. The writing had completely faded on one but I could still read the watts on the other. The only reason I knew the model numbers was because I still had receipt from 1995 when I bought them new.

I ran a Trace AH300smx until it quit in 2009, then a littlemark II. Never had a problem with the cabs. Then I decided to sell the rig and go to a small lightweight combo. (I got $650 for the whole rig). Never had a problem with the cabs. Sounded great with both amps. Trace had the ah300 rated at 300 watts and the LM was 500 at 4 ohms.

Incidentally, in a fit of madness, I bought a Thunderfunk 550 and a berg NV215. So much for the lightweight combo. But it blows the trace rig out of the water. The trace cabs sounded great right in front of them, but lost punch 15 feet away. So the audience wasn't getting the effect I was. The new rig sounds sweet for a 3 block radius. It's actually easier to move than the two trace cabs IMO.

Also, the tweeter in the 210 made a clicking (clipping?) sound at louder volumes. I usually kept it turned down very low. The 115 sounded almost identical to the 210. Both very clean top to bottom.

Those are Celestion woofers, approx. 100 watts each but I'd have to dig in my notes for the specs.

If you go to www.archive.org (The Wayback Machine), you can plug in, say, www.trace-elliot.com, and see what their website looked like over the past 12 years. That is how I find info on used gear that is not in my catalog collection.

The 2103H and 1153 are in there, at 200W each. So a head rated at up to 800W could be used for the pair.

All this info is a huge help as the hand written power rating on the back of the cabs i'm looking to buy are also no longer visable. I meet with the guy this weekend to give the rig a run with the gk mb500. He bought the rig of local craigslist for 200 from a kid.... he actually beat me to it... and now he's flipping it but doesn't know a thing about the cabs. I am excited to hear the cabs.

I will also be testing an ampeg svt 410 hlf 4ohm cab rated at 500watts rms the same day.. that one too is 300 bucks...

and saturday I am looking at a carvin 2x10 with a redeye horn sitting on top of a 1x15 with the reline 1000 head for 350? any thoughts on those rigs? I'm sure this has a higher rating than the trace elliot. (bass head included in price)

I know I have gotten off topic, but my search for my first rig has suddenly added more options to my decision and I want to make the right one.

This economy here in Las Vegas has everyone selling their gear. (good for me) but I almost feel like I'm stealing:hiding:

anywho, I'll let you guys know how it goes.. maybe it can be a shootout? Carvin Vs Trace elliot? after all I will testing both with the gk mb500

I noticed today that these are still for sale from the guy for $300. Did you check them out? What made you decide not to buy them?

sorry I took so long to reply. Turns out that both cabs combined are 400 watts rms.. I'm not a fan of over powering my cabs... I only have a GK mb 500 but even then so, its still 100 more watts than I'm comfortable pushing through the used speakers. I honestly figured I"d go all out and ended up special ordering a GK neo 4 ohm 4x10 thats rated at 800 watts. And I could'nt be happier!!
