Traynor YBA200 NIGHTMARE... advice needed (dial-up beware)

Traynors are so-named for their creator, Pete Traynor. We used to have a saying: "there are watts, and then there are Traynor watts" meaning they were typically louder than spec. Legend also had it that they tested amp design by tossing them off the roof of the building, two stories, onto the paved parking lot. What designs survived and could still work were kept. Most of their models are still Canadian-made too, with the exceptions being the lower end combos.

True, all across the board!

Guy just emailed me PDF files explaining the mod to my amp tech. He said to have it done local if I could to save myself some shipping costs.Either way I'm getting WAY too far into this amp as opposed to the cost of a new one.Another life lesson I guess.According to what I understand each tube will have an adjustment as opposed to a gang type where all bias together. He had it back together yesterday after repairing the first meltdown and he said the tubes are still running way too hot.His words were,It's a time bomb,I wouldn't take it to a gig without a backup.Hopefully the mod will bring this thing around. I want say that Guy has been very helpful during all this, with email responses damn near immediatly. But I still say all these things should be recalled or replaced.

DLee do you still have the PDF for the YBA200 auto-bias mods? Could I get you to email them to me. I'm having difficulties getting Traynor to pick up their phone. tks. I'll send you my email address if OK with you. Rick
Hey, can you send me a PM Thursday morning? I'm off work this week until then, but I can see if I have anything or send a message along to the product specialist and ask him to get in touch with you...peace!
