Treble vs. Bass pickups ric4003

Im in the embryonic stage of playing bass, i have a Ric 4003. Its awesome! Ofc.. Any way im using the Ric o Sound output, running Mogami gold rts to Rich e Split to "biamp" i suppose, running the pickups to seperate amps.
My question is what are some detailed differences between the treble and bass pickup. Its hard for me to discern a difference. Thanks

When i play, i like having the pickups balanced or at same setting, switch in the middle.
