Normal music notation might help you cut up the measures and see the pattern.

Tab is notoriously poor at communicating time. I'm looking at it and I can't make heads or tails.

But yeah, tricky patterns can take time to settle in. nothing for it but more practice.

Ya know, as you say that it occurs to me that tabs leave me clueless...I go by ear or duke it out with music notation.

bah...you can play it with fingers with a little practice and the use of 100% strict alternation.

Whenever I play that song fingerstyle, which has been only a few times, I played each 3-note phrase, which is not a triplet, middle-index-middle.

That might not be the technically correct way to do it, but for me it's the easiest. Find what method works best for you and practice practice practice.

oh, come on! It ain't that hard to do with fingers. 30 minutes of focused practice and a beginner can get it.

A triplet is 3 notes played in the space of two. They don't sound at all like Barracuda.
