Trouble recording from firebox to garageband

I just got my firebox in the mail today, but i cant seem to get it working. I installed the new drivers, setup garageband to recognize it. I have an xlr cable connected from the back of my amp to input one on the firebox, and the firebox is connected to my macbook through firewire. For whatever reason its not recognizing the signal at some step. Anyone think they can help, the instruction manual doesnt seem to want to.

Maybe its the xlr cable, I cant even hear anything when I plug some headphones into the firebox.

When you are in Garageband, do you have in the "preferences" section, the drivers set to use your device? (sometimes you have to switch it from the built in input to your device.

I don't know how familular you are with GB, so sorry if you already know this stuff.

I expect to get slapped for suggesting this but.. Do you have windows on your mac? Maybe try it in windows and see if you get sound, then you at least know if it's a software/hardware issue.

Blue light, have the references set to the firebox. I do have windows on another computer, but no way to test it as it doesnt have the right connections.

is the input crancked all the way up? are you able to turn the peak led on?
try the mixer's settings, maybe the volume there is turned down
