Truss Rod Help

Hi, i'm a total newbie at self repair jobs, and i may have just screwed up my bass.

on the A string 5th fret, A string 9th fret, A string 13th fret, and D string 2nd fret, I was getting a lot of fret buzz so i adjusted my truss rod very slightly.

i have a yamaha rbx374, and it requires the neck to be unbolted to adjust it. Now, when i tune the E string to pitch, it lays right on the frets and no sound at all comes out of 90% of the frets, and the rest just buzz. (just a side note... i've done nothing with the intonation or string height to this point, so that is all fine).

does anyone know how to fix this?

Sounds like you tightened the truss rod instead of loosening it to add relief.

thanks for replying. this may sound very newbish, but does tuning every string effect the tension on the neck as well?

Yes, you must tune each string to pitch for the relief to "fall-in". Might not be too far off-target after all. Get 'em all close to pitch and re-evaluate.
