Truss rod wheel issue on my Sterling SUB

My Sterling SUB bass has a problem. The truss rod wheel seems to have lost all the tension and it just spins, like it's not connected to the truss rod at all. Before I start taking off the neck to do further investigation, I thought I would ask if anyone has ever had this problem before? The bass is about a year old and I have adjusted the truss rod successfully a few times, but when I went to do it today, this problem appeared.

I don't think it's disconnected.

I believe that humidy/temperature changes have put the neck into a position where the rod, as it's currently adjusted, is not putting pressure on the neck.

To verify if this is true, begin tightening the truss to the point where you feel pressure on the neck.

I would think this should happen within 10~15 turns.

There is no way a temperature chance can possibly move the neck to a point where it removed all of the tension of the truss rod, and 10-15 turns would have the truss rod completely maxed out. I think you may need to take the neck off of the bass and do some investigation.

Really?

I agree that it will probably take less than 10 to feel (and btw, since this is a wheel adjustment, you can only turn 1/2 rotation at a time, max) I actually meant about 5 complete rotations of the adjustment wheel.

He doesn't have anything to lose by tightening the truss rod. Counterclockwise should be loosen, clockwise is tighten.

I appreciate the replies. I can turn the wheel clockwise or counterclockwise all day long - it just spins with little resistance. Right now the bass happens to be set up fairly well but I will definitely need to take off the neck to see what is going once another adjustment becomes necessary.
