Trust rod problem

I have a Fender Deluxe 5 string MIM. I have been trying to adjust the trust rod, and it is tightened as far as I dare turn the adjusting screw and the neck is still bowed a little too much. Does anybody know of a way to extend the trust rod to give it and bit more thread to reduce the bow in the neck. cheers~rick

Add 1 or 2 washers under the truss rod nut.
