Definitely GK. For both bi-amp and because they are plain awesome. I wish I could afford GK cabs, but my Laney's are awesome too. Only really missing out on bi-amping.

No that's not. It's a totally different sound and feel. Just ask Bobby Vega and Jeremy Davis.
I really love the opinions that people have put out here, but just to make one thing clear. I will be pushing my amp head through 2 GK NEO 212s... That I just bought recently. I am not looking to drop more money on cabs right now.

The keyboard player should stay out of your sonic turf, or pick patches that blend with whatever you bring, so no need to consider him. (In a perfect world...)

Not posted but a GK 800RB pushing a 4x12 loaded with Carvin PS12s is a great sound for metal. Been playing this setup for years and love it.

Yeah this isn't a joke, I am not talking "Hey talkbass whats the best head for metal so I tune to drop A and chug for an hour, theres gotta be a specific head for that right?"
I play in a prog/metal band. We don't sound like every metal band out there. 90% I am playing more than my lowest string and I was wondering if there is a head that is good for fast playing to keep up with me in the mids and high mids. I don't need to chug all the time. Although on one song I do in fact chug a bit.
But no, this was a dead serious question. That is why I put a poll up and gave options. Not just Hurr Durr should I get a black one?
I think the cab matters as much as the amp.
I vote for Ampeg SVT of the all tube variety (vintage, CL, or VR) + a Bergantino NV610 if the weight doesn't bother you.

For mids/high mids fast playing like you stated, I would do a 'technical' amp like a Trace or pre-Fender SWR with 10" loaded cabs and dial in grind with a quality pedal where you a ton of control and options. Ymmv of course.
Since your cabs are set (and seem to be a good choice to me), I would recommend any rather clean, powerful head and a nice overdrive like a rhodenberg or tube screamer in Front of it.
Try the amps I mentioned above and maybe a Carvin B 1500, a Genz Benz GBE 1200 or the Fender 1200.
You could also go lightweight with a markbass LM or LM Tube or anything of the shuttle series, but to me I feel the digital amps just do not deliver in those situations.
