Tuba / bass rigs. Go!

I now run it into its own tube preamp then to my pedal board and directly into the power amp running to my bass cab. It sounds killer with the preamp. I can even overdrive the tube for a really crunchy tuba sound. I love the way it all works together.

Im gonna try this. I use an envelope filter ans distortion unit only - but it seems like everytime I hit the pedal the effect i had dialed in is totally gone, did this happen to you? And did putting the pre amp first solve it or was it just for the sound?
New to pedals here.

Also- re bass drum mics - maybe thats it! When I run through the house its not an issue- but too boomy through the amp and i cant get mids,

the envelope filter should be before the distortion, or that distortion will totally squash the threshold of the envelope when you hit it.

is this a mic preamp? if so it should be first to do its job of taking the microphone signal.

Thanks. I have the order right, but only using the pre amp on the shuttle. So...add a mic pre amp?

This thread is a 5 gallon bucket of awesome. I haven't played tuba in a couple of decades. Now I want to get one...... and some pedals.

wait, how are you getting the XLR mic into the 1/4" in?

those things suck.

look at a little mini-mixer from mackie or even behringer, the 2-channel dealies for under $100; that'll properly take your XLR mic signal and give you a good line out you can run through pedals and into your amp (and even better, straight into the PA) with no loss.

Curious, would mixer obviate need for a little mic preamp like sansamp?

Sansamp mic preamp? It has an XLR in to take the mic cable directly?

Anyway yeah, the mixer itself would be the mic pre.
