Regarding solder I would recommend using......lead-free ROSIN-CORE solder. The acid core stuff will continue to attack the metals after the joint is made.
On another note, there is a very accomplished organist at the church I attend. This morning, after the service he played a piece where in one section, the parts on the keyboards were mostly whole notes while the passage on the pedals was made of 8th notes. Using both his feet, it was literally a walking bass line.

this is a slippery slope to get started on... I built my first a few years ago and do 2-3 amps a year since. I would recommend starting with a weber 6S100 kit. All the parts are there, layouts provided and it really does sound excellent. I do not like the eq as much as the B15 clone i did from scratch but the amp really does sound great (to me).

No it is not. Acid core is for plumbing.
You only want ROSIN CORE SOLDER for electronics.
Acid core solder will damage or destroy PC boards and electronic components through corrosion over time.
The only solder you should be considering for general purpose electronics use is 60/40 lead-tin rosin core solder.

No wait... my spell checker changed rosin to acid, yeah! That's the ticket.
Maybe for fun we should have a thread where autocorrect is required and we can't correct any autocorrected errors.
Acid/Rosin - that was pretty doofus of me to be sure.
Did anyone mention soldering kits? There are some nice ones out there that have some of the hand tools AND include the proper rosin core solder.
