not sure if this has been discussed here before, but have you guys seen this?



there were many on here that i liked and some that surprised me. i think my favorite may have been the fender blonde. also really liked the vox ac30 and the selmer amps which im guessing are fender like circuits? is there something different about that blonde fender that gives it that tone? now i want one! (or a clone) people have said that its too quiet, but i gig 30 watt tube amp all the time no problem so i wonder if that blonde would work for me?

There are a myriad of reasons why a particular amp sounds like it does. Could be something as simple as a different preamp tube. Could be some of them were modded or rebuilt in some way that made them sound a certain way.

As for whether it would work for you or not, it probably would if you can gig a 30w tube amp already. But don't necessarily expect that exact sound out of any of the exact same amps in this demo, especially if it's an older amp. Sure, it should sound in the ballpark, but over the course of decades, there's usually been a little customization along the way, or maybe they didn't do much maintenance and it sounds weak :D

There are lots of things that can make an old tube amp sound the way it does, so there's no guarantee you'll get the same sound. But on top of that, there's no telling how it'll sound with your bass, with your favorite settings, through your cabinet, in your room, etc. If you can, try to take your bass and cab down to a shop that sells vintage amps… and check it out for yourself.
