IME it's pretty weak for 50W. Assuming your 212 and 112 are basically the same driver and tuning, the 212 will have fuller lows and 3dB higher sensitivity.

The original Ampeg supplied small signal tubes in an amp that i had picked up hockey games at night, they were also noisy. Changing them made a world of difference. No more sports, quiet, good tone. This was a made in Vietnam SVT, some years ago. I always prefer NOS. Current manufactured tubes are generally better these days.
The problem is that the price of NOS tubes have skyrocketed in the last few years. They are getting more and more scarce, and this drives the prices insanely high. No way, I'd pay $200 for a tube, no matter what.
My PF20T was fitted stock with Ruby Tubes 12AX7WB. AFAIK, these are Chinese made tubes. They sound ok, if a bit dry and sterile. The RFTs sound richer and warmer, IMO. These tubes costed me a bit over $20 each, which is still within sane margins, although I remember the times when thy were $5-7.

I picked up from a friend a matched set of RCA black plate 6L6 GC tubes, like to try them in the PF-50, Also have some RCA grey plate 12AX7's that been sitting around, Looking for good set of the black plates too , I only use my PF-50 for home use so the vintage thing is more for nuance tone chasing.

RCA's were nowhere near even close to matched, returned, the 7581A are great tubes, but don't break up - but gives the PF-50 some very clean headroom, so back to the JJ 6l6GC tubes, Tried some Tungsol 6l6's but they caused a hum, bad tubes , and I am tiered of spending money on tubes, just play the dang thing !!
