Tubescreamer variants: which would you choose?

Good price the "digital" reference in their description is totally wrong though the Ice 9 is analog MIJ and a beautiful product.

With things like the Plumes and the Bonsai, do people feel they will do particularly well on bass?
I mean the TS circuit by it's nature seems to boost mids and cut lows, which is why I've been looking at pedals which are able to counteract the bass loss.
I know people are really keen on getting the Plumes but I wonder if it's just a simple tubescreamer with some clipping options for people that didn't want the options that come with the Dunes or Palisades. This would also make sense to me at the price point. (hell, I'm tempted to get one just because it's relatively cheap and looks awesome)
I mean I know EQD have got a bass demo of the Plumes, but i could say the same thing for the Terminal, which I was never able to get enough low end out of. I'm not saying it won't sound good, I'm just saying nothing about the spec is convincing me it's going to hold the low end when I'm playing rock music with a drummer and two guitarists.
Having said that, I do see that it does say:
"We've also adjusted the cutoff of the tone control to deliver a more useful range of travel with more booming bass on the low end without sacrificing the cutting midrange and bright top end."
So I should expect more bass than a normal ts9/808.
Maybe I'll go on a side quest and buy a Plumes just to see.
The Rodenberg stuff turns up pretty cheap in the UK sometimes so I'll keep an eye out.

+1. I just love that thing, it won the distortion battle on my pedalboard. Plus it has a switch that when flipped will triple the gain. So basically you get 2 pedals in one
Abominable Electronics Hellmouth has served me really well. It holds onto the low end really well and has a blend to boot. Really sick sounding low gain OD.

Another one is the Palmer Übertreiber. No bass knob but a blend. Rather affordable too.

IMO It is worth ordering it from Germany, for full retail price and tax. It is that good.
I have no use for a tubescreamer but I tried a few of these a while back and the Rodenberg came out on top.
Sometimes people say the Rodenbergs are built like tanks.
IMO you can use one of these as a projectile to shoot holes in tanks armor plating - and plug them back in afterwards.
Totally forgot about the bass drive! I've had a couple but got the first one and felt low loss so sold it and later bought another thinking I made a mistake but found the same thing.... This is mainly why I started my YouTube channel, to document pedals I own so that I don't get GAS for pedals I've already owned if I they didn't fit my needs
Really interesting how so many people have/had issues with the low end loss. I read about it and decided to stick the bassdrive in my X-Blender loop and I didn't like it as much. Maybe i'll try it again sometime. It's odd because a lot of pros use/used the bassdrive.
The best Tubescreamer variant I've ever played, and by best I mean - it's not even close.
M.I. Audio Tubezone. It's got the screamer sort of grit with huuuge amounts of low end on tap and flexible EQ.

Actually it's way cheaper to get one from Bass Direct in the UK (£129) than anywhere else I've seen (Musik Produktiv charge £157). In fact if you're in Germany you're probably better off ordering one from the UK!!!
I just picked up a used Bass Drive Mosfet and absolutely love it, I cannot detect any low end loss at all in the Mosfet mode, there is a little low cut possibly in the standard mode, but not much.
Must admit I have not used it in anger at a gig yet, but I will be very surprised if it is not a keeper.

This guy is on my board at the moment. I'm not smart enough to know, but I'm told it's in the Tubescreamer family. Note the 100 Hz knob and bass bump switch.
