Double Bass tuner care

The tuners look in order. I doubt there is slippage between the worms and the gears. Perhaps the pegs are slipping within the gears. If you remove the screw in the center of one of the gears and pull it off, I bet you will find that the flattened side of the hole - which mates with a flat area on the peg - has worn round. The gears could be replaced if you could get them, which is unlikely. The entire tuners could be replaced, which is expensive. Or, with some clever tinkering they could be repaired.
