Tuner output as headphone in put

Is it possible to use the tuner output on an amp head as a headphone input?

First thing to come in mind, is that the tuner output is mono.

Mono would give you audio in only one side of a pair of stereo headphones unless you bought a cheap £1 mono to stereo adapter.

However, I don't think enough power comes out of the tuner out to drive any set of headphones; a tuner can pick up a passive bass signal so it really doesn't need any power at all, so I'm guessing it'd be super quiet through there.

I don't know much about this, though, it's just an educated guess.

It isnt going to work well.

i tried with effects loop and tuner out with active bass
only works on one side and is not loud

if you unplug the stereo jack slightly it will work in both sides... but it won't be very loud I don't think

No, this only works on stereo jacks (where the ring is driven). That’s not the case here.

how is that possible? especially, as said above, one is usually mono while the other is stereo?

From the manual : " The PHONES/TUNER jack is a stereo 1/4” jack designed for connecting a tuner or headphones. This output is unaffected by the MUTE function so you may tune your bass quietly while using the MUTE. This jack will also send the mono signal to each side of your headphones. To listen to headphones without hearing other speakers, turn down the MASTER. The EFFECTS LOOP and GRAPHIC EQ will not be heard in the headphones. Volume is adjusted by the DRIVE control."

Yes I read it so in this amp headphones and tuner share the same jack, right?

Because this particular application drives both the tip and the ring with a higher current line driver that can tolerate shorting the tip to sleeve when used as a tuner.

This is by far the exception to the rule, as it requires the tuner to be driven post-eq or the headphones driven pre eq. It's MUCH more common (almost universal) that the tuner is driven pre eq and the headphones are driven post eq.
