Tuner screw

I have a 1951 original P-bass that is missing the screw on one of the tuners.
Looked in the hardware stores, but can't find a screw that matches the thread. Can someone tell me about that or direct me to somewhere I can buy a screw to fit. Thanks

Thanks, none of them have them. I understand they are 12-24 x 3/8" round head machine screws

I believe you can use a rack mount screw, though, you may need to trim it a bit.

I don’t know the length but, if you mean the screw that goes through the crown gear and mounts the tuner shaft, I believe those are a truss head screw. If you’re right about the 12-24 thread and not concerned about originality here’s one option, they probably have flat heads as well.

Hey, finally found the right screws 12-24 x 3/8" slotted round head machine screw, at Bolt Depot online
Thanks for your help. Wanted to get my old bass back to the original, and keep it as original as possible.
It's a jewel, 1951 Fender P-bass, would you believe ser. #349 patent pending

If you have an original 1951 P bass, please contact a vintage expert and find the correct part, even if it is a replica. Don't mess around with whatever you find at a hardware store.
