Tuners and the B String

I'm using the Peterson StroboStomp and it tunes the B string fine.

However, when I was using other tuners (Boss, Polytune 3, etc), I found that if I pluck the B string over the end of the neck, it would tune the B string more reliably. I still do this out of habit with the Peterson.

I haven't used a clip-on tuner on a bass.

When I pluck the B with the EHX it gives me these weird green dots on the screen and the clip-on just freaks out! Screen starts looking all staticky. Odd.
