Double Bass Tuning machine rattling driving me nuts

Just to nitpick, screws are either phillips or slotted - two different kinds of head... There is a hybrid, but I don't think that's what you mean.

Don't forget square-drive screws! :-) There is a company called McFeely's that sells pretty much every kind of screw you'll need in just about any kind of metal with a square-drive head. The head just won't destruct like a slotted or phillips head.

I replaced the screws on my Kay with black square-drive screws. The Pöllmann screws look to nice to replace.

I know, but what do you call the indentations into which the phillips bit fits? Normally, on a phillips head screw, you look down and you see basically an x, with the center of the x--the intersection of two lines--meeting dead center on the head of the screw. ON a lot of these the center of the X was off
