I have just tuned my bass up to C#F#BEA...will this mess with the neck?

With the same set of strings? The tension will be higher, and so your action will likely also be higher. It'll probably need a setup.

Why would you want to do that? Spend a couple bucks on a decent capo and throw it on the 2nd fret. WHAMO! instant Higher tuning and no need to do a setup and no unnecessary neck stress.

Aha thank you. And because I didn't wanna have to buy a capo, but I might as well do it now =P
